Caring for the environment
We believe that every single person has the opportunity and the responsibility to preserve nature and to reduce the impact on the environment.
The actions of every single person will make a difference.
Our Recycling Scheme
We offer incentives to recycle our jars and bottles.
Simply return empty, cleaned and undamaged Jars with all labels removed to receive a discount of $0.20 per jar with your next purchase at our market stall. We offer a $0.10 discount for each returned clean jar or bottle if the labels are still attached.
20 cents may not sound much for every cleaned glass or bottle but it adds up over the long term.
We would like to encourage all our customers to do the right thing and recycling, repurpose and reuse.
How to remove labels from glassware
-
Never put your glassware into the dishwasher if you like to remove labels. The drying circle bakes the labels ever more onto the glass and it’s very difficult to remove.
-
Rinse jars and put the glass in hot soapy water for at least an hour or in a bowl overnight.
-
The next day the labels peel easily in seconds of the glass with no residue.
-
Receive 20 cents off your next purchase for each returned clean jar or bottle.
What we do to reduce the impact on the environment:
-
All our products are free of artificial colours, Flavours and preservatives.
-
We do not use any pesticides or chemicals on our property.
-
We follow the principles of Permaculture to grow our fruit and berries the natural way.
-
We only use Eco-friendly Labels on our products.
-
We only use environmentally friendly packaging material (e.g. paper bags).
-
We are recycling (washing & re-using) all our tasting spoons.
-
We recycle (composting) back into the environment, e.g. use card boards to suppress weeds.
-
We are caring for bees on our property, that in return take care of the pollination of our fruit trees and berries.
-
We grow an abundance of flowers on our property to feed the bees.
Doing all of the above helps to preserve the environment and creates a natural habitat that attracts native birds and beneficial insects, and therefore takes care of pests around our property. At the same time, we are creating a natural & balanced environment.
In addition, we are reducing our energy consumption in many ways:
-
We only use highly energy efficient freezers (Miele) to store our fruit.
-
We use a water kettle (KitchenAid) that allows us to set the temperature to 90 degrees Celsius instead of 100 degrees Celsius. This reduces electricity consumption and also ensures that teas actually taste better.
-
We are using a battery powered Vacuum Cleaner (Bosch) that uses only 30 Watt during changing, compared to conventional vacuum cleaners which can use up to 2000 Watt.
-
We are aiming to use only natural resources like rain, sunshine and wind to power our operations.
We encourage everybody to do the same.
Thank you.
